TIPS:
Paint Fun-Kins® Carvable Pumpkins in 2 stages – first with stem up, second with stem down. When painting the bottom, stand it – stem down – in a container that supports it until it’s dry.
To get spray gloss varnish at the base, insert a disposable cup or other tall object inside the hole at the bottom to lift it from the surface. After spraying the surface that faces you, rotate pumpkin to get the other surfaces. Spray the stem from the top, as well.
PAINTING ARGYLE PATTERN: Basecoat the entire pumpkin. Let dry. Measure the circumference of pumpkin and create a diamond pattern that fits the circumference. Trace the pattern with pencil onto the pumpkin and paint inside. When dry, make the pattern between the diamonds and outline with a short broken line, using a detail brush. Continue around pumpkin.
PAINTING PLAIDS: Basecoat entire pumpkin. Let dry. Water down a complementary color to a slightly thinner consistency. Using a 1/2" flat brush, paint a ring around the stem. About 1" down from the first ring, paint a second ring and continue down the pumpkin. Allow to dry. Paint the same consistency of paint in a vertical line from the stem to the base, all around pumpkin. Allow to dry. Load the brush with the original paint that is not watered down and paint a block of intense color at each intersection.
PAINTING STRIPES: Basecoat the entire pumpkin. Let dry. Set pumpkin flat on the table and hold a ruler in front of it. Mark pumpkin with a pencil where the stripes will be placed. Continue rotating the pumpkin until it is marked all around. Paint within the lines, applying multiple coats for good coverage.
PAINTING DOTS: Basecoat the entire pumpkin. Let dry. Squeeze paint on the plate, load the sponge brush, and then dab it onto the pumpkin, replenishing the sponge brush as needed. When dry, a second color can be added with a different size sponge brush.
PAINTING CHECKERBOARD – NOT SHOWN: Basecoat the entire pumpkin. Let dry. Set the pumpkin flat on the table and hold a ruler in front of it. Mark pumpkin with a pencil where you want the pattern to begin. Load a wide brush with paint and apply a square on the pumpkin. Leaving an empty space equal to the brush width, paint a second square adjacent to the first. Continue around the pumpkin. Second and third rows are built upon
original row, alternating spaces.

POLKA DOT PUMPKIN
Spray pumpkin with white spray paint and allow to dry. Spray self-adhesive felt pads with black spray paint and allow to dry. Remove self-adhesive pads from sheet and place on pumpkin in random pattern or form a specific design. Tie a ribbon bow around stem.
BLACK PUMPKIN Spray pumpkin with black spray paint and allow to dry. Attach yarn into several "ribs" of pumpkin, using hot glue at the very top and at the bottom. Attach mirrors to pumpkin using both a dot of tacky glue and a dot of hot glue. Create your own geometric design. Wrap yarn around stem loosely.
*Only use hot glue gun with adult supervision.
SILVER PUMPKIN Spray pumpkin with silver spray paint and allow to dry. Press metallic, black, and white brads into pumpkins, in sets of 3. Wrap stem several times in 20 guage copper wire. Curl ends around pencil or brush handle. Shape copper wire into a leaf and stem shape. Continue with the length of wire, wrapping it around the original eaf shape 3 times. Wrap 24 gauge gold wire around original shape and then weave back through the middle of the leaf three times. End at the bottom of the leaf and curl end into a spiral. Attach to stem using copper wire. Curl all ends.
